
The Annual Florida Hospital SHARE Canned Food Drive benefiting the Second Harvest Food Bank begins in March each year.
The Second Harvest Food Bank is a private, nonprofit organization that collects, stores, and distributes donated food to more than 500 non profit agencies in six Florida counties that distributed 15 million pounds of food to the needy - the equivalent of more than 10 million meals. FH has donated thousands of pounds of food that provides over 10,000 meals to local children, senior citizens, and families with at least one adult working full time. The Second Harvest Food Bank depends on Florida Hospital's generous donations during the springs to replenish their food pantries after the holiday season.
Collection bins are located throughout the hospital campuses, and $5 coupons are on sale in all hospital cafeterias. For every $5 coupon purchased, 20 meals can be provided. To encourage employee participation, contest and other activities will be held at each campus. Please contact your Campus Coordinator or department representatives for more information for events planned at your location.
